A V-Cut is a movement made by a player without possession of the basketball who makes a cut in one direction and then firmly plants their foot to change to another. This is used to get a defender off balance by attempting to stay with the cutter and the cutter then abruptly goes a different way. The movement commonly looks like a "V", hence the name.
